About The Clarkson School

A Dynamic Program

The Clarkson School is unlike any other early college program in that it provides exceptional high school students with a full academic year of residency-based interdisciplinary education that balances intellectual rigor and practical application.

Since 1978, The Clarkson School has given academically accelerated students the opportunity to:

  • Begin college early, taking a full course load alongside other Clarkson undergraduates.
  • Be part of a smaller more supportive residence environment
  • Take part in specialized programs that bridge the transition between high school and college.
  • Participate in Clarkson clubs, join a Division III sports team, and earn up to 32 college credits.
  • Automatically continue at Clarkson University as a sophomore, or move on to other top colleges and universities, taking the college credits earned here for evaluation.

A special division of Clarkson University, The Clarkson School is located in the town of Potsdam, New York, which is located at the foothills of the Adirondack Mountains and adjacent to the six-million-acre Adirondack Park.  It is one of the few early college programs in the country that provides a real community learning/living experience on a university campus.

Mike Grosky

"The year at The Clarkson School marked a turning point for me.  It was an entrance into a place that would open doors to opportunities I never imagined I'd be presented with.  It was a wonderful year surrounded by people I could learn from and grow with".

Michael Grosky, TCS '07, Studied abroad at City University in Hong Kong and graduated from Clarkson University in May 2010
