Student Organizations

At Clarkson University, developing leadership skills is an important part of a student’s overall college experience and can lead you towards personal and academic success.  The Office of Student Organizations works with a variety of student-run organizations to offer educational and social opportunities aimed at enhancing campus life.

Expanding a student's learning outside of the classroom is as easy as becoming a member of a the Clarkson University Student Association (CUSA); exploring membership in more than 100 students organizations, including 13 fraternities and sororities; working with the surrounding community;  or attending leadership trainings and workshops.  Benefits include strengthening appreciation for diversity, developing responsible decision-making skills, establishing professional contacts, and forming lasting friendships.

FAQ’s

Where can a student go to join an existing student organization?  Can new organizations be created?

A list of current student organizations is available at www.cusa.clarkson.edu.  Your son or daughter can also stop by the CUSA office located on the first floor of Cheel Campus Center.  Clarkson encourages students to bring new ideas to the university.  They just need to pick up a registration packet and we will help transform their idea into a new opportunity.

What about joining a fraternity or sorority? Do the members have to live in the chapter house?

Students interested in joining Greek organizations must possess a 2.5 cumulative GPA.  Men must also have sophomore standing and women must have second-semester freshman standing.  Each chapter has different requirements regarding living at the chapter house.  Clarkson provides off-campus Greek housing exemptions to academically eligible students.
