Engineering & Management (E&M)

Major Advantage: integrates business management with engineering, science and technology.

Today’s global marketplace requires individuals involved in the integration of technology and business management; individuals who understand engineering but are firmly grounded in the realities of business decision making.

That’s where Clarkson’s E&M program comes in.

E&M draws upon Clarkson’s established strengths in engineering and management. The program was developed in partnership with industry leaders to meet the growing demand for individuals with strong skills in both engineering and business who can bring a broad business and technical perspective to complex business and industrial management.

How E&M Works

The E&M major is different than other undergraduate business majors in several ways:

  • You declare yourself an E&M major when you enroll at Clarkson, since the degree requirements take four full years to complete.
  • The E&M curriculum differs slightly from the core curriculum for other business majors, and the First-Year Experience is built upon two team-based design and entrepreneurship courses designed specifically for E&M students.
  • E&M students can also enhance and focus their education by earning a certificate in one of two focused E&M tracks in the areas of construction management or manufacturing management.

The E&M program prepares  talented people to prepare for a wide range of career options within the rapidly changing technical and managerial aspects of an organization.  It is ideal for those who desire breadth and flexibility in a career centered on leadership and technology.
